 Plug-ins & Downloads

To view documents created in software applications not running on your computer require you to download and install plug-ins. Plug-ins are free software programs available on the Web. These tools add functions to your web browser or enable you to view specialized content.

The links are to each product's download page where installation instructions are provided.

 Testing Macromedia Flash Player and Shockwave
Test Macromedia Flash Player at

If the animation plays, it is installed successfully. Hold your mouse cursor over "About" to display the version. The latest version is:

7,0,19,0 for Windows and Macintosh Classic OS
7,0,19,0 for Macintosh OS X
7,0,25,0 for Linux.
 

 How to enable Cookies
You must have cookies enabled to login to our management panel. Most web browsers have cookies enabled by default. However, if for some reason cookies have been disabled in your browser, please follow the instructions below for your specific browser version to enable cookies.
Windows IE 6.x Browser
 
  1. Select Tools
  2. Select Internet Options
  3. Select the Privacy tab
  4. Select Advanced
  5. Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
  6. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the screen
  7. Click OK to exit
Windows IE 5.x Browser
 
  1. Go to Tools on the menu bar
  2. Pick Internet Options
  3. Click the Security tab
  4. Select the Custom Level tab
  5. Under "Allow Cookies that are stored on your computer" click "Enable"
  6. Under "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)" click "Enable"
  7. Select OK, Yes you want to save the settings
Windows IE 4.x Browser
 
  1. Go to View on the menu bar
  2. Pick Internet Options
  3. Click the Advanced tab
  4. Go down to the Cookies section
  5. Click "Always Accept Cookies"
  6. Click OK
Windows IE 3.x Browser
 
  1. Go to View on the menu bar
  2. Pick Options
  3. Click the Advanced tab
  4. Go down to the Cookies section
  5. Click "Warn Before Accept Cookies"
  6. Click OK
Netscape 7.x
 
  1. Click Edit on the Toolbar
  2. Click Preferences
  3. Click the Privacy and Security category; expand the list to show the subcategories
  4. Click Cookies
  5. Three options are displayed. Click the appropriate choice:
    • Disable cookies
    • Enable cookies for the originating web site only
    • Enable all cookies
    • If you want to be notified when a web site tries to set a cookie, select "Warn me before accepting a cookie"
Netscape 6.x
 
  1. Click Edit on the Toolbar
  2. Click Preferences
  3. Click the Privacy and Security category; expand the list to show the subcategories
  4. Click Cookies
  5. Three options are displayed. Click the appropriate choice:

  4. Click the checkbox next to "Enable Java"
  5. Click OK
Mac IE 5.x
 
  1. Click Edit
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Under the Receiving Files option, select Cookies
  4. Under "When receiving cookies:" select the desired level of cookie acceptance
  5. Under "When receiving cookies:" select the desired level of cookie acceptance
  6. Click OK to finish
Mac IE 4.x
 
  1. Go to My AOL on the menu bar
  2. Pick WWW
  3. Go to the Advanced Settings option on the Category menu
  4. Click "Cookies"
  5. When receiving cookies: Click "Never Ask"
  6. Click OK
For further instructions on how to change your cookies settings, please use your browser's HELP documentation to make the appropriate changes.

 Disabling the Popup Blocker for Educational Leader

You can disable the Pop-up Blocker from the Tools menu:

  1. Go to the Tools menu in Internet Explorer. In the Popup Blocker section choose Disable Popup Blocker

 System Requirements
The software has been tested with respect to the following system specifications
5.1 For Windows Platform
5.2 For Macintosh Platform
5.3 Internet Connection
A high-speed Internet connection is required for optimal performance. If you are using dial-up connection, you must have a very good connection or you may experience problems with video, audio and with displaying some images.
5.4 Browsers
Recommended Browsers:
  • Internet Explorer (Version 5 and above)
  • Netscape (Version 6 and Above
  • AOL users should open this site in one of the tested external browsers window (important)
Note: It is recommended that any Popup Blocker software (if using) be disabled. Also, Cookies should be enabled for session management on the site.
5.6 Telephone
To attend an on-line Expert Session / Presentation a phone must also be available (next to the computer).

 Downloading and Installing Macromedia Flash Player and Macromedia Shockwave Player
To assure audio and video playing ability, and to use the site to its full capabilities, you must install macromedia flash player and macromedia shockwave player on your computer. If you do not have these programs installed you can do so by navigating to the following URL: http://www.macromedia.com.

On the Macromedia home page, click on the “downloads” link.

On the downloads page, you will see a section for “Download Free Players”, click on this link. You will need both the “Macromedia Flash Player” and the “Macromedia Shockwave Player” for Educational Leader, so you will need to install both.
PC Users
Maromedia Flash Player
  1. Click on the link for “Macromedia Flash Player”
  2. Click on the “install now” button
  3. The program will install itself, and notify you when it is finished
Maromedia Shockwave Player
  1. Click on the link for “Macromedia Shockwave Player”
  2. Click on the “install now” button
  3. A security window will pop up, asking if it has permission to install “Macromedia Shockwave Player” on your computer. Select “Yes”. Click OK, and it will begin a pre-installation process that will take approximately 2 minutes
  4. It will ask you to close all open browsers to complete the installation process, click OK. It will then begin the installation process. This will take a few minutes
  5. When it is finished, it will ask you to register your Macromedia Shockwave Player. Fill out the simple registration form, to activate the program. Upon completion of this form, click “finish”
MAC Users
Maromedia Flash Player
  1. Click on the link for “Macromedia Flash Player”
  2. Click on the link for “Download. Hqx”, to download the installion file to your desktop
  3. Double click on the Flash Installer file you just downloaded to start the installation process
  4. Check off “Internet Explorer” as the browser you want Macromedia Flash Player installed on. Click Install
  5. A window will pop up telling you the installer has detected “Internet Explorer” on your computer. Click OK
  6. A dialog box saying Installation was successful asking to either quit the installation process or to select another browser to install the file on will pop up. Select quit
Maromedia Shockwave Player
  1. Click on the link for “Macromedia Shockwave Player”
  2. Click on the link for “Download Now”. This will download the installation file to your desktop
  3. Double click the Shockwave Installer you just downloaded to start the installation process
  4. Check off “Internet Explorer” as the browser you want Macromedia Shockwave Player installed on. Click Install
  5. A window will pop up telling you that the Shockwave Installer has detected “Internet Explorer” on your computer. Click OK
  6. A dialog box saying Installation was successful asking to either quit the installation process or to select another browser to install the file on will pop up. Select quit
